As-salam =)
Hey folks! Guess what? Dr. Ben Kim is back on action again! Woohoo... !!!
Here how it goes for one who wants a healthy hair and nail.
Must try, OK?
I'm not aware of any remedies for hair loss and brittle nails that work equally well for everyone.
But I have noticed over the years that ensuring regular intake of vitamin C and calcium from whole foods usually leads to significant improvement in both areas. This is one of many reasons why broccoli has always been a healthy food choice for the masses. It's naturally abundant in vitamin C, calcium, and several other minerals that support C and calcium in building and maintaining hair, nails, and even your bones and teeth. Eating broccoli raw is fine, though your digestive tract can extract more nutrients out of broccoli if you cook it. But keep in mind that steaming is a better choice than boiling, as boiling leads to some loss of nutrients to the water.

A good alternative to steaming is roasting broccoli. Roasting broccoli softens up its fibers to allow for improved nutrient extraction, and also creates natural sweetness and a slightly nutty flavor.
OH MY NEW BFF, MR.BROCCOLI !
This super simple recipe is a delicious way for you and your family to enjoy all of the health benefits of broccoli - few other vegetables are as naturally abundant in indole-3-carbinol, a powerful antioxidant that is thought to offer significant protection against all types of cancer. When roasted, broccoli takes on a bit of a nutty flavour. Even the kids will love roasted broccoli!
For this recipe, you'll need:
1 head of broccoli, washed and cut into florets
2 teaspoons of extra-virgin olive oil
Juice of one lemon
Sea salt and pepper, to taste
2 teaspoons of extra-virgin olive oil
Juice of one lemon
Sea salt and pepper, to taste
Pre-heat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
Once you have washed and cut broccoli into bite-sized florets, add to a large bowl and add olive oil.
Toss broccoli with olive oil to evenly coat. Sprinkle with sea salt and pepper to taste, and toss again to distribute.
Lay florets in a single layer on a baking dish or sheet. Bake until tender, usually around 15 minutes. Right after you take the florets out of the oven, drizzle with fresh lemon juice.
Oven-roasted broccoli is delicious by itself or with any whole grain like quinoa or brown rice.
For added flavour, include a few slices of creamy avocado.
And, DONE! =)
A very good technique to make someone like me to start loving broccoli! (hate it! oh, and avocado too!) I am positively sure that the taste of sour lemon, hot-hot blackpaper and a pinch of salt will dilute, absorb into the most-hated vegetable, THE BROCCOLI!
Haha. No offense, OK?
